some of my thoughts

Tech startup barriers to entry are high

April 2025

Being a non-technical founder trying to build a tech platform is really really difficult. I've been working on an idea for a while. Can't reveal much at the moment, let's just call the business "Boa". It might sound obvious, even though I know the basics of coding, building something truly disruptive requires an immense amount of knowledge and resources. This is especially perplexing given the time we live in, where I feel AI is right at the brink of eliminating this high barrier to entry for tech founders.

Having said this, I'm very happy that Himanshu Niranjani (aka @happytechie) has decided to join the journey with me and a few mates in building Boa. Himanshu is the CTO of Property Finder, and brings a wealth of knowledge from businesses like Meta, Amazon, and Visible (I watched Wheel of Time on Prime Video — H actually built Prime Video, pretty cool).

Himanshu also owns a VC (Be Human Capital) for which I've done some scouting work as well. BHC operates a bit different to other VCs, and their thesis fits perfectly where I was. Boa has come a long way to finding product-market fit, but just needs to actually build the product and get it into users' hands. The fact that I wasn't able to ship product due to my non-technical background was…. frustrating. I tried to learn code, but as mentioned, the barriers to tech product these days are way too high for me to learn now that in my professional life, I've taken a different path.

This is where BHC comes in. Through this strategic investment, Himanshu and his team bring a wealth of knowledge and resources, which Boa has at its disposal to bring out an MVP and eventually full build that will shake the market. All this at pace that would have been impossible for me to achieve. I can already see the BHC team is in Boa's corner — asking the right questions and shipping versions fast.

I'm really glad to have Himanshu and BHC supporting Boa.
